No One Prepared Us for Getting Old

All the planning in the world sometimes goes right out the window.

Let’s face it—no one really prepared us for a lot of things in life. Taxes, parenting, relationships, career detours… we’ve all had to figure things out on the fly and from the "school of hard knocks". But somehow, we have survived this far. One of the biggest reasons we made it through all those years, aside from sheer tenacity and our wits, was a younger body and mind.
When we were younger, stress was something we could usually shake off. We’d bounce back from a bad night’s sleep, power through a long day at work, and still make it to dinner with friends or chase the kids around the yard. But now? Let’s just say the bounce isn’t as bouncy as it used to be.
Aging is sneaky
Our bodies seemed to have had a secret meeting—without us!“Hey guys, should we let him know his back will start going out for no reason now that he’s in his sixties?” “Nah, he’ll find out soon enough.” And find out we do.

Getting out of bed in the morning can feel like a full-contact sport. You’re just trying to start your day, and suddenly your body reminds you that gravity still works—hard. One second you’re upright, the next you’re on the floor, staring at the ceiling, wondering what just happened.
And don’t even get me started on memory. I’ve lost my keys more times than I can remember… wait, where are my keys? But, Seriously, memory loss is no joking matter. Memory loss is one of the things I hear from people that they are afraid of when they get older. So, it's important to take steps now to prevent memory loss in the future.
Getting older can feel like you’re the punchline to a joke you didn’t hear. But here’s the thing—we’re still here, still going, still laughing (even if it hurts a little more than it used to). Maybe no one prepared us for getting old, but we’re figuring it out, one creaky joint and lost key at a time.
