SMART SNACKS THAT ACTUALLY SATISFY - ENDING THE SNACK ATTACK
You Don't Have To Be a Genius In The Kitchen To Eat Well
Snacking isn't the problem – mindless snacking is. When hunger strikes between meals, many people automatically reach for chips, cookies, crackers, or candy. These foods provide quick energy—but it disappears just as quickly.
A better snack combines protein, healthy fat, and fiber to keep you feeling satisfied.

This Week's Featured Recipe
Apple Slices with Almond Butter and Cinnamon
Some snacks never go out of style. For generations, moms have reached for the simple combination of an apple and a spoonful of nut butter when kids needed something quick, satisfying and easy to eat. There's a reason this classic has stuck around.
The combination works because it brings together three things your body needs for lasting satisfaction: fiber from the apple, healthy fats and protein from the almond butter. The natural sweetness and satisfying crunch of the apple pair perfectly with the creamy richness of almond butter, while a sprinkle of cinnamon adds extra flavor without added sugar.

Why We Chose This Recipe
✔ Natural sweetness
✔ Fiber
✔ Healthy fats
✔ Easy
✔ Blood sugar friendly
It's simple. It's inexpensive. It takes less than a minute to prepare—and it's just as good for grown-ups as it was when we were kids. Sometimes the best healthy snacks are the ones that have been around all along.

RECIPE INFORMATION
1-2 SERVINGS
5 MINUTES PREP TIME
Ingredients
1 Apple of your choice
1 Tbsp. Almond butter, or healthy nut butter of your choice
2-3 dashes Cinnamon (depending on your taste)
Directions: (I know you don't need them, but here they are anyway)
Step 1: Cut your apple into slices for the thickness you prefer. You can use an apple slicer that cores the apple for you, or core the apple by hand.
Step 2: Arrange the apple slices on a plate or in a bowl. Sprinkle your cinnamon to taste.
Step 3: Scoop your almond butter (or nut butter of choice) onto your plate/bowl. Use your apple slices to scoop up your almond butter, and enjoy!
Recipe Tips:
Use nut butter that does not have added sugar. We like getting almond butter and peanut butter that has just the nuts and a little salt. My wife, Lynn, likes to add a dash of salt to our almond butter. But, it's up to you and your taste.
Picking crunchy apples. To avoid picking old and/or mealy applies, we use the "thump" test on all the apples we purchase. You thump the apple with your finger and see if you hear a high-pitched sound. If it is high-pitched it is likely a crisp apple. Usually it also means it is a sweet apple, but the "thump" test does not always guarantee sweetness, just crispness.
Spices. You can get creative with spices you sprinkle on the apples. You can use cardimom (small amount), cocoa, powdered vanilla, etc.

Dr. Gringeri's Human Engine Tip
Before reaching for a snack, ask yourself, “What does my body really need right now?” If you're truly hungry, choose something that combines protein, healthy fats or fiber rather than simply grabbing something sweet or salty. A smart snack should help carry you to your next meal—not leave you looking for another snack 30 minutes later.
